COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND PROJECTS
“Spreading Seeds of Support, Comfort and Hope in Our Community”
York Manor Garden Club offers various types of support to our community. Through the annual holiday greens and floral arrangement sale, funds raised support YMGC in donating to the environment, in honoring those who have served, and in enhancing the quality of life for children and adults in communities throughout Baltimore.
Yearly YMGC donations include:
- Plant a Tree Program that focuses on the reforestation of America. YMGC’s contribution reforests one acre of land annually.
- The Baltimore Hunger Project. The Baltimore Hunger Project’s mission is to bridge the gap for students experiencing food insecurity. In addition to a contribution to the Baltimore Hunger Project, YMGC members are making postcards of encouragement with nature themes to place in the weekend food bags.
- Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. A yearly donation to this organization that focuses on the preservation, restoration and sustainability of the Chesapeake Bay, its rivers and streams.
Community Services:
- Westfield Assisted Living. This year, YMGC is partnering with Westfield Assisted Living in Baltimore County to provide container gardens through the five garden seasons for the enjoyment of the residents. This is phase I of a three phase project to enhance the outdoor living space and to encourage butterflies & birds to visit the gardens.
- Postcards of Encouragement for the Baltimore Hunger Project. YMGC kicked-off the new garden club year (September 2025) with a workshop that created 100+ postcards of encouragement with the nature theme of flowers, bees, butterflies. The postcards will be placed in the weekend meal bags for children in the Baltimore area.
